Reykjavik Culture Night and Reykjavik Marathon

It is a big and annual event in Reykjavik called, Reykjavik Culture Night (Menningarnótt) and Reykjavik Marathon, and it all heappens on the 22 of August. This day starts off with the marathon early in the morning where thousands of people participate, followed by artistic events which are held in the streets of downtown Reykjavik and at cafés throughout the day. It continues into the evening with all kinds of cultural performance and ends with a most impressive display of fireworks down by the main harbour area of Reykjavik.
Running the Reykjavik Marathon is getting bigger and bigger every year and involves thousands of participants from Iceland and other countries. Why run in the Reykjavik Marathon? One of many simple reasons are th climate in Iceland. It is perfect for marathoning and Reykjavik city has one the cleanest air in the world so you can enjoy a breath of fresh air.
After the marathon starts the festives in the city of Reykjavik which last the whole day and night and involves endless possibilities of entertainment and arts ends with a spectacular fireworks show at midnight -and you can not imagine how much we like fireworks in the land of ice and fire.
