Whats on in Reykjavik in February and March

Reykjavik is sparkling with life during the dark days up in the arctic circle and lots of interesting events are going on.
From February 9th - 12th is the Winter Lights Festival that celebrates both the winter and the growing light after a long period of darkness. The program is a mixture of art and industry, environment and history, sports and culture; the events will provide entertainment for both the inhabitants and visitors to Reykjavík.
Then there is the international day of love, Valentines Day, on the February 14. This is the day to express your love, and to celebrate the spirit of love. Surprise your partner with in a unusual way and take a trip to a romantic getaway in Iceland.
Food and Fun is from February 29th - March 4th and mixes outstanding culinary skills, fresh natural ingredients, Icelandic outdoor adventure and the world-famous Reykjavik nightlife to create the ultimate recipe for fun. The core element of the festival involves world-acclaimed chefs collaborating with Reykjavik's finest restaurants. Each chef is assigned to one of the participating restaurants, where they prepare a special menu crafted from Icelandic ingredients only, commonly held to be the best in the world by Icelanders.
The unique nature and culture in Iceland has been an inspiration to many of the Icelandic designers. Much of Icelandic design reflects the mystique of form, colours and texture taken from Icelandic nature. DesignMarch is from March 22th - 25th and is featuring Iceland's internationally renowned veterans in the field as well as fledgling upcoming designers, the program of DesignMarch includes a wide range of exciting events, exhibitions and lectures. The festival presents design playing a fundamental role in these times of great change.
DesignMarch brings the awakening of spring and the growth in Icelandic design.
And another Fashion festival is the Reykjavík Fashion Festival from March 29th - April 1st. The cream of Icelandic fashion talent has joined forces with bright sparks on the music scene to revitalize the established and popular Reykjavik Fashion Festival. Organizers include E-Label, Nikita, Birna, Thelma-Design, Mundi Design and Faxaflói.
The Icelandic Horse Festival is held in Reykjavik on March 29th to April 1st. The Festival will be held at Laugardalur in Reykjavik and in the city's sorroundings. Horsemanship is in the blood of Icelanders and many of Iceland’s most famous horsebreeding farms are located there.
The programme will consist of various events ranging from breeding shows to saddle making. The final day there will be a celebration in Reykjavik Zoo and Family Park where a selection of the best horses and everything related to the Icelandic horse will be introduced
