Triathlon and half Ironman Championship in Iceland 2013
Triathlon is a young sport in Iceland but is becoming more and more popular every year. There are several competitions held every year, mostly sprints and half olympics, but also a couple of Olympics and one half ironman.
A triathlon is a multi-sport endurance event consisting of swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances. Try something new and Icelandic triathlete is more than an adventure.
1/2 Ironman in Iceland 2013 - 14. July
The race is in the outskirts of Hafnarfjörður, neighbour town of Reykjavik. It starts in Ásvallalaug swimmingpool, where you swim 1900 meters.
After the swim you head towards Krísuvík and finish the 90 km bike ride on 15 km loops on a remote road, with beautiful view over lava and mountains. At last there is a half marathon run, 21 km, in the beautiful lava fields of Hafnarfjordur.
Schedule of the trip
Day one: Arrival to Reykjavik, check in at you hotel of choice.
Day two: Explore the competition area & relax in the Blue Lagoon
Day three: Competition Day. Pick up one hour before start
Evening; dinner at Restaurant Fjalakötturinn downtown Reykjavik
Day four: Bathing in the sea and relaxing at Reykjavik geothermal beach
Day five: Excursion of choice - not included in price.
Day six: Departure or extended stay!
Price per person EUR 670
Included: accommodation for 5 nights and breakfast, based on two people sharing a twin hotelroom at BEST WESTERN Hotel Reykjavik or Grand Hotel Reykjavik.
Registration fee, pick up and drop off for competition.
Supplement for single room EUR 200.
