Festival of the sea in Iceland

Festival of the sea maritime celebration in Iceland (Sjómannadagurinn) is an annual event in the first week of June and this is is the 11th time that Icelanders celebrate. This day is to honor the fishermen in Iceland and all those who make their living from the sea.
The day is celebrated in towns throughout the country with parades, arts and crafts activities, cultural events and activities for kids, food fairs, sailing competitions.
It is a great opportunity to see this unique culture.
There is of course a lot going on in Reykjavik as well and the old harbour and the new one is filled with activites. Restaurants put on a special gourmet seafood feast for a reasonable price, sailing copetition, puffin watching, sailing trips, collection of funny fishes, life music and more fun things to do.
